The newly renovated Yokohama Port Museum is open

The Yokohama Port Museum is the first museum featuring the Port of Yokohama.In 1989, the Yokohama Maritime Museum opened as part of a commemorative project for the 130th anniversary of the port opening. In April 2009, the museum was completely remodeled for the port opening’s 150th anniversary. The museum is beloved by residents, and features the theme “the Port of Yokohama in history and life.”

The museum was recently renovated to include experience-based contents such as an exhibition that shows the history of the opening of the port with models and images, a VR THEATER where you can experience the port dynamically, and a gantry crane simulator.

Along with the renovations, a new exhibition space that introduces the Port of Yokohama’s exchange with international sister, friendship, and trade cooperation ports that displays photos and commemorative gifts was also opened. At the new photo spot in this space, visitors can take pictures with the scenery of different ports in the background.
