Last updated date:2020/8/6
Vision: Realization of “SDGs FutureCity Yokohama”
Yokohama was selected as a “FutureCity” in 2011, and has actively promoted efforts to tackle climate change while also developing economically and to improve the quality of life of citizens.
As a “SDGs FutureCity” selected in 2018, to further advance the advanced efforts we have made so far and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we will promote collaboration with domestic and overseas actors, and we will promote new efforts to solve integrated social issues.
Yokohama SDGs Design Center
The Yokohama SDGs Design Center, established in January 2019, will provide the “Yokohama-type major city model” for resolution of societal issues and share the initiatives with the world. The center connects needs (e.g. regional challenges) and seeds (e.g. technology and knowledge of companies, universities and community activity groups) across fields and organizations and achieves multiplier effects in the three areas of environment, economy and society.
Toward resolution of regional issues, various ideas are proposed by companies. Such seeds and needs are matched through an online network(*1) and pilot projects(*2) are primarily carried out to create “major city model”.
*1 Network system for share the information of SDGs and the center activities and exchanging information for resolution of issues.
