Yokohama joined C40 in 2010 and share knowledges with various C40 member cities.
Yokohama participates some C40 networks. It exchanges opinions through workshops held about once a year and online.
In 2016, the Yokohama Smart City Project received a "C40 Cities Award" in the Clean Energy category.

Yokohama joined CNCA in 2015 - when it is established - as the only city in Asia, and share knowledges with the members.
CNCA's activities are discussed at an annual conference. The "Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance Innovation Fund" is another major activity, wherein member cities are asked to submit innovative proposals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The city has got "CNCA Innovation Fund" in 2017 and 2019, and also got "The Spotlight Award", an award for communication activities, in 2019.

Yokohama joined ICLEI in 2014.
The city participates in a workshop - "ICLEI Cafe" - held every month in Japan, at which member municipalities exchange views and information. Yokohama also takes part in various international conferences held by or with the involvement of ICLEI. In 2019, the city was a participant in the Climate Summit for Local and Regional Leaders at COP25 in Madrid, Spain. At the Japan Pavilion, Yokohama was a panelist in a session sponsored by ICLEI and the Japanese Ministry of the Environment.
