As part of Yokohama’s New Coronavirus Living and Economic Countermeasures, the city has passed the largest supplementary budget in its history at ¥574.3 billion, and has put in place a range of emergency measures. Beginning with a special fixed cash distribution of ¥100,000 per person, the countermeasures further include support for providing medical care for patients tailored to the severity of their symptoms and support for those working on the frontlines of healthcare, and strengthening our system for PCR testing. They also include a new financing menu to support the management of our small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs), support for our shopping districts, and for our small business owners. We are doing all we can to support our citizenry, our business people, and our medical practitioners. Going forward, the Yokohama municipal government will continue do all in our power to restore economic activity to Yokohama and bring normalcy back to the lives of all of you, our citizens, even one day sooner. Yet in order to stop the spread of new coronavirus infections, there is still nothing more essential than the understanding and cooperation of you, the citizens of Yokohama. The way each and every one of you conduct your lives each day is contributing directly to protecting everyone’s lives, saving our loved ones, and preserving our society. Let us all overcome these difficult times together. I ask of all of you your continued understanding, and your help.
