The Rugby World Cup™ is one of the three largest sports events in the world, ranking right up there with the Summer Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. It is a huge event that is followed avidly on television by 4 billion viewers in more than 200 countries around the planet. During this World Cup, seven matches will be held right here in Yokohama, including both semi-finals matches and the final match itself. We are pulling out the stops to welcome players and fans from around Japan and the whole world to our city with our all-out Yokohama hospitality, from flawless preparations for the event itself to city dressing that will wrap Yokohama in glittering color, broadcasting the appeal of Yokohama to the whole world. During the World Cup there will be a special “Fanzone” in the Minato Mirai 21 district’s Rinko Park, where everyone can enjoy live broadcasts of the matches on a giant video screen. You will be able to experience together with other rugby fans from home and abroad the fever and excitement of the matches, almost as if you were there in person yourselves. There will also be a panoply of attractions to further pump up the event, from food and drink booths where you can savor the cuisine of both famous Yokohama and Kanagawa restaurants and the countries with teams participating in the World Cup, to onstage events and even a “hand’s-on” corner where you can try out rugby for yourself. The curtain is about to rise on Yokohama Otomatsuri 2019 (YOKOOTO 2019), the 2019 edition of Yokohama’s all-genre music festival held once every three years. During the course of the festival, more than 300 music events will be held in every corner of the city. In this edition, out of all those many events, we introduce a few choice samples of upcoming performances from the “Music in the Streets Project,” a project organizing free live performances to be held on weekends in parks, commercial establishments, shopping districts, and other locations across the city over the course of the YOKOOTO festival.
