Located next to Yokohama Zoological Gardens “Zoorasia,” Satoyama Garden has created a huge flower bed measuring 1 hectare for autumn, as it did for spring. The theme for this autumn is “Hills with Autumnal Brocade.” The garden is covered with plants and flowers displaying vivid hues of yellow, orange, and vermilion. I urge you to experience the autumnal scenery in this natural tract that touches the heart in a special way. Farms in the city are starting to harvest sweet potatoes, persimmons, and other crops. We have entered the time of year for savoring autumn vegetables and newly harvested rice. Dining on foods that are right in season is one of the pleasures of a bountiful autumn. Yokohama Marathon 2018 is going to be held toward the end of October. This event attracts some 28,000 entrants from inside and outside the city, and the sight of them all running through the streets of Yokohama is really spectacular.
