We have seen the number of new coronavirus cases in Yokohama begin to trend upward again starting in late October, and there are concerns that infections may spread further or that a dual outbreak could occur with COVID-19 and seasonal influenza.

Yokohama is taking all possible measures to help, but medical resources are not unlimited. We must ask everyone’s cooperation to help avoid putting additional strain on the outpatient clinics treating fever or emergency services, and to protect the lives of all residents.

Therefore, in addition to basic preventive measures to guard against infectious diseases, such as washing hands and gargling, we would like to ask residents for their cooperation with two requests.

The first is “to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”
In order to lower the risk of onset or severe symptoms of COVID-19, please consider getting the Omicron-targeting vaccine booster as soon as possible. Currently, in addition to approximately 2,000 local vaccinating health care facilities, 10 mass vaccination venues have been set up. We urge all residents to sincerely consider getting the shot.

The second is to have a set of test kits prepared.
We ask that each household keep a COVID-19 antigen testing kit on hand in case of illness or fever. We also ask that residents who only experience mild symptoms to self-test and recover at home to ensure that those at high risk of developing serious symptoms have the opportunity to receive care at medical examination facilities.

Yokohama will continue to take all possible measures to prevent the spread of infection and protect the lives and livelihoods of all residents.

We will also continue to work together with residents and local businesses to overcome this situation. Thank you for your cooperation.
