Effective today, Kanagawa Prefecture has decided to end its demands for restaurants to limit their hours and guest capacity.
Over the past several months, residents, businesses, and medical personnel have come together in order to enact COVID-19 prevention measures and carry out vaccinations. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone for their dedication.
Although the situation has calmed down at the moment, the City of Yokohama is continuing its preparations for a potential sixth wave. In order to bolster the medical system, we are securing hospital beds, and we will soon open a hospital specifically for COVID-19. In collaboration with the Yokohama Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Yokohama Shopping Street Association, we also started the “Vaccine Plus Campaign” to improve the vaccination rate, especially among younger people. Preparations to provide third booster doses of vaccinations are moving forward, and we will notify residents when the timeline is confirmed.
We will also continue our efforts to recover the economy in earnest. In October, the City of Yokohama restarted its “Find Your YOKOHAMA” campaign to encourage tourism in the city. In December, we will start another campaign where people can get points using restaurant receipts in order to support local businesses .
Going forward, we will continue to stand with businesses, who have struggled for several months under COVID-19, and roll out the necessary support measures in a timely manner.
As the end of the year approaches, the number of people eating out will increase and group gatherings will become more frequent. I ask that you do not let your guard down, and continue to take measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. COVID-19 prevention measures are also effective against influenza. Please take care of your health and act with caution this winter.
