Illegally Parked Bicycles
Prohibition of Illegally Parked Bicycles
In accordance with municipal regulations, the parking of bicycles, scooters and motorcycles (hereinafter, bicycles) in and around train stations is prohibited.
Bicycle Parking Lots (Churin-jo or Jitensha Chusha-jo)
Because the areas around train stations have been designated as no-bicycles parking zones, the city has set up bicycle and motorcycle parking lots near train stations. If you wish to use a bicycle parking lot, please inquire with the parking lot directly.
Removal of Illegally Parked Bicycles
No-parking zones are indicated by signs. If you park in a no-parking zone, your bicycle or motorcycle may be removed and impounded. Removed bicycles are taken to designated bicycle pounds, (jitensha-hokanbasho), depending on the station or location where you parked your bicycle.
Reclaim of Illegally Parked Bicycles
Impounded bicycles are returned to their owners at the bicycle pound (hokanbasho). To claim your bicycle, you must bring your bicycle key and some form of identification to the bicycle pound (Hochi Jitensha Hokanbasho) and pay a fee (¥1,500 for bicycles, and ¥3,000 for motorcycles).
