Volunteer Interpreters

If you need consultation services or must complete various procedures at public offices in Yokohama City, including ward offices and welfare centers, we can dispatch a volunteer interpreter to the office concerned. This service is free of charge. You can apply to have an interpreter dispatched at International Lounge Corners, etc. Approximately 25 languages are currently available.

Available Dispatch Locations

• Ward Offices and welfare centers in Yokohama
• Public welfare facilities, nursery centers (city and licensed private centers)
• Public elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools

Medical interpretation is not available. For medical interpretation, please refer to Emergencies, ”MIC Kanagawa”.

Locations where Applications for Volunteer Interpreter Services can be made

We can also introduce volunteer interpreters who will accompany you to places other than the designated governmental or prefectural facilities in the range of the “community volunteer interpreter system”. In this case, a fee is charged to cover transportation.
