Beware of Phone Scammers Claiming They Are Ward Employees

There have been recent cases of phone scammers claiming to be Naka Ward employees. They claim they are phoning from the “Hoken-ka” or the “Iryō Hoken-ka,” (which do not actually exist) saying that “we sent you a notice of refund but you didn’t respond. We’d like you to go to XX bank and phone us,” or “We have a refund of medical expenses for you, but the counter is busy, so please go to YY bank for the ecessary procedures.”
Refunds of insurance fees or medical expenses require paperwork. A ward employee will never ask you only by telephone to make a deposit. Moreover, a ward employee would never ask over the telephone for the name of your bank, your cell phone number or whether or not you have a cash card. These are tactics often used by phone scammers, so please be careful.

Let's prevent influenza

Influenza is a disease that is caused by infection by the influenza virus. It is characterized by the rapid onset of pronounced symptoms that include high fever and weakness of the entire body.  The elderly and persons with chronic respiratory or heart conditions are more likely to suffer pronounced symptoms and therefore need to take extra precautions. Infants that catch influenza in rare cases develop acute encephalopathy and therefore require extra care.

Let's prevent norovirus

Norovirus is a virus that causes acute gastroenteritis, diarrhea and vomiting across a wide age range, from infants to the elderly.

  To prevent infection

● Especially before eating, after using the restroom, and before cooking, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and rinse them well under running water.
● Avoid sharing towels and other items.
● If you have symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea, do not work directly with food.
● Viruses in food can be deactivated through heating.

Prepare food by heating it thoroughly for one minute so that its internal temperature reaches 85C or higher.
● Never handle stools or vomit with bare hands. Be sure to use plastic gloves.
● Use a diluted chlorine-based disinfectant for disinfection.
