Koho Yokohama November 2014 NO.789
Let's walk, Yokohama!
Shall we walk, enjoying the scenery of this refreshing season?
With the aim of becoming #1 for healthy life expectancy in Japan, the city started our "Walking Point" business project in November.
Feeling free + health = walking
Target: 40 years of age and older
Let's be healthy and happy, earning points by walking. We will send a free pedometer if you sign-up (recipient responsible for shipping fee of 630 yen)*.
Place your pedometer on the reader at cooperating stores. Depending on how many points you've earned, you might win something in a drawing.
*Pedometers will ship sequentially in late November to those who registered on or after October 6th.
About the drawing prizes
Every three months for those who achieve 200 points or more*
Winners will receive a 3,000 yen gift certificate. We will also hold a drawing based on year-to-date points. Enjoy!

Health promotion while enjoying walking
Mayer of Yokohama Fumiko Hayashi
The city will work on health promotion, aiming for "#1 healthy life expectancy in Japan" for our 3.7 million people so they can be healthy and successful in work, community activities and hobbies.
We started the Yokohama Walking Point businesses project from November 1st to promote health while also having fun. You can get points for the steps you take by stopping at stores on shopping streets or department stores and placing your special pedometer on the reader. We also have fun events planned at which you can get prizes for the points you earned.
We started taking orders for pedometers on September 1 and have seen great interest. We are very happy to know so many citizens are interested and are willing to be healthy.
To build up the Walking Point project, department stores in the city have been promoting Walk Biz to encourage everyone to commute in shoes and clothes that make it easy to walk. We will make the city energetic and full of vitality in sparking the walk "all over Yokohama" movement.
Walking is attractive because you can start anytime and enjoy moving your body at your own pace. Above all, the city of Yokohama is full of charm. Please register for the "Yokohama Walking Point" businesses project, and enjoy walking around spending your days feeling vibrant and in good health.

Announcement from Fire Bureau
On October 1st, we started the "violation disclosure system" and "posting of compliance mark" to protect the safety of our citizens.
Violation disclosure system
Buildings containing serious fire violations will be published in a list on the website of the fire department. It is possible to know in advance the prevention measures and risk of fire in a building.
"Buildings in which firefighting equipment is not installed" and "buildings in which equipment is installed, but can't be used due to poor maintenance", even though buildings such as these must have a "fire alarm system", "indoor fire hydrant equipment" and "sprinkler system"
*We will publish the building to our list if, after 14 days following the on-site inspection and notification of fire service act violation, the violation is still present.
Posting of compliance mark
We will publish to our website a list of hotels and inns that earned* a "compliance mark", indicating compliance with certain fire and disaster prevention criteria.
Hotels and inns higher than 3 floors and accommodating over 30 people.
*Issued on the basis of applicantions by hotels and inns.
