The Port of Yokohama's container terminals are located nearest to the mouth of Tokyo Bay. Among all the piers of Yokohama Port, Minami Honmoku Pier is the closest to the mouth of Tokyo Bay, which makes it possible for the ships to shorten their navigation time.

Minami Honmoku Pier is located in the deep water area. It is possible to construct very deep quay walls here without dredging to cope with the tendency toward larger container vessels.
