The safe running of trains is ensured by various means, including safe traffic control, driver safety management, and rolling stock and track
safety management.
Responding to the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001, the March 2004 Madrid train bombings, and the attacks on the London
Underground in July 2005, the Yokohama Subway has stepped up its inspections and patrols of trains and stations.
Wind gauges are located at four points along overground sections of Blue Line track on the subway to ensure the safe operation of services
by, for example, enabling service restrictions to be imposed during high winds.
・Platform edge doors
In order to improve safety, platforms are fitted with platform edge doors to prevent passengers from falling from platforms onto the track or
being hit by trains.
・ATO system
"ATO" stands for automatic train operation.
