Business Location Incentives for Specially Designated Areas
(for HQ function, R&D Center)

The City of Yokohama provides subsidies to companies that lease office space and establish HQ-equivalent office (including R&D center) in specially designated areas.

Eligibility	To establish HQ-equivalent office that meets following conditions in specially designated areas (*1). This subsidy is open to all industries. To lease office space and establish HQ-equivalent office (including R&D center) To employ the minimum number of employees required at the HQ-equivalent office (*2) To have a certain amount of pretax profit (*3) (*1) Specially Designated Areas Minato Mirai 21 District --- Detailed map (PDF 47KB) Yokohama Station District --- Detailed map (PDF 268KB) Kannai District --- Detailed map (PDF 268KB) Shin-Yokohama Station District --- Detailed map (PDF 236KB) Kohoku New Town District --- Detailed map (PDF 175KB) (*2) 100 employees or more in the new office when setting up HQ-equivalent office for the first time in Yokohama. There is another criteria in the case of transfer in the city. (*3) Total amount of pretax profit for the 3 fiscal years or amount of pretax profit for the fiscal year prior to the application filing date are considered. (Amount of subsidy is calculated based on the subsidy standard chart)
Incentives	An amount equivalent to one half of the corporate inhabitant tax to be paid to the City is subsidized for 3 consecutive years. (Max. 100 million yen per year)
When and Where to Apply	Applications are accepted by March 31, 2012 at the Business Development Division. * Applications should be submitted 1 day to 6 months prior to the signing of the lease contract.
