Electricity is supplied at 100V, 50Hz in Yokohama. Please ensure that your electrical appliances are compatible with this standard.

Gas
Gas used in Yokohama is principally city gas (propane gas in some communities). Please note that it is dangerous to use appliances that are not compatible with this type of gas.

Water
The tap water in Yokohama is purified so that it is safe to drink.

Installation of a New Telephone
Apply by dialing 116 (no area code necessary) in Japanese or calling NTT East Information to have a telephone line installed in your home or office.
Charges such as installation fees and construction fees will be necessary. There are several phone companies other than NTT from which you can choose to provide you with your actual phone service.

Post Office

Some post offices are open until late and on weekends.
Domestic Postal Service
Sealed letters or documents (standard sized items: up to 25g/¥80) and postcards (¥50) can be mailed from any mailbox.
Packages sent by "Yu-pack" and important items or money sent by "Kakitome (registered mail)" must be sent from the Post Office. Stamps and postcards can be purchased at Post Offices or shops with the sign "

International Postal Services
In addition to airmail (kokubin), there are a number of other ways to send mail quickly and reliably such as Express Mail Service (EMS)(Kosusai Speed Yubin). And low-cost Surface Mail (funabin) is also available.
Notice of Delivery in Absence (Fuzai Tsuchi)
If a parcel or letter arrives when you are not at home, an oblong Notice of Delivery in Absence (Fuzai Tsuchi) is left in your mailbox. Contact the telephone number on the postcard to arrange redelivery or pick it up yourself from the Post Office.
